Introduce the Rewards of Having a Hobby to Your Child

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Mark Ransome In today’s fast-paced stressed life, even children need to take a little time off with some form of relaxation. However, instead of raising a couch potato who listens to MP3s, plays video games, surfs the Internet or just watches TV, encouraging a child to take up a constructive alternative, such as, a hobby could open a whole new dimension to his life. Parents should support their child in discovering the rewards of having a hobby. What is a Hobby? A hobby is a pastime or activity that a child does in his spare time for individual accomplishment. It is something they have an interest in and that they enjoy. It differs from an activity that is forced on them. For instance, a parent may think that her son needs some exercise and signs him up for soccer. While her son may not mind playing soccer, he is not especially enthusiastic about it either. This is not a hobby for him; whereas, a daughter begs to take up ballet. Here she is not only getting exercise, but she lives and breathes ballet. That then makes it her hobby. What kinds of Hobbies are there? 1. One type of hobby is collecting, such as, key chain, lunchbox, autograph, stamp, trading card, comic book, postcard, doll, spoon, patch or coin collecting. 2. There are educational hobbies. A few of them would be amateur radio, bird watching, genealogy, chemistry or astronomy. 3. Then there are creative hobbies. They could be painting, photography, playing a musical instrument, cooking, scrap booking, building models, HO gauge trains, kite building, wood carving, needlepoint, knitting, sewing and crocheting. 4. Also there are physical hobbies, for example, playing sports, yoga, bicycling, running or hiking. 5. Next there are the games. Many of which can be played in competition. Several are chess, checkers, bridge, gin rummy, backgammon and scrabble. 6. Some are then a combination of hobby types. For instance, hobbies that are a blend of the collecting and educational varieties are rock and mineral, fossil, butterfly, feather, shell and arrowhead collecting. Gardening could be considered both physical and educational; whereas, the art of dance is creative and physical. What are the Rewards of Having a Hobby? 1. It can promote relaxation. 2. It can encourage physical exercise. 3. The hobby may further advance creativity. 4. Through the process of self-discovery, a child may realize a talent they did not know existed. 5. A hobby can teach. A child may learn about the particular subject they are engaged in and perhaps become an expert. They can learn organizational skills through setting up a collection or planning the next phase of their hobby’s development. 6. It may aid a child in increasing the drive and persistence to attain their goals. 7. Due to self-achievement, the hobby can help in building confidence. For example, when a budding gardener takes some seeds, cultivates the soil, adds the right amount of water and proper sunlight and wins first prize for growing the largest tomato at the fair. 8. It can also aid in developing social skills like how to handle competition with learning to win politely or lose gracefully. 9. The hobby could result into a lifetime passion or eventually turn into a career. There are very few downsides to having a hobby. Unless, of course, the child becomes obsessed to the point where everything else in their life falls to the wayside. It is the duty of a parent to keep their child on track with what is appropriate and not to allow them to become too fixated on their hobby. To further the desire to take up a hobby in a child, it is important that the parents have a hobby themselves. They also should attempt to expose their child to various experiences so that possibly their child may form an interest in some area. When an interest seems to develop, parents should support it wholeheartedly. Perhaps take a trip to a museum, show, or exhibit that features the hobby. However, parents should not demand absolute perfection from the child. They should allow the child to try, fail, and learn from their mistakes. After all, it is their hobby and they should be allowed to explore it their own way. A child who discovers his own personal pursuit will surely reap many rewards from his hobby that he otherwise would not have experienced. 3 Easy Steps for Finding Effective Weight Loss Products

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Robert Tracy Chicago, Illinois, January 9, 2007. Recently, the federal government levied $25,000,000 in fines against 3 weight loss supplement manufacturers, including the highly publicized TrimSpa, featuring celebrity spokesperson, Anna Nicole Smith. This shouldnt be a surprise. Ms. Smith, who provided visible, physical evidence of the products ability to help shed pounds, admitted to reporters over a year ago, that she lost much of the weight in ways other than ingestion of the TrimSpa product (Dont ask how she did it. Its not pleasant). Beyond the appearance of results provided by Ms. Smith, the federal government looked deeper and found that little or no clinical evidence existed to support the TrimSpas weight loss claims. TrimSpa, apparently, was a successful marketing ploy, rather than good science applied to an age old problem of excess weight. Fortunately, there are companies out there that spend more on research, science and good weight loss product development, than on empty celebrity endorsements. But, you need to know how to find them, and what to look for. Here are some guidelines for finding effective weight loss supplements: #1 Look for a Product with claims substantiated by hard science Many weight loss supplement manufacturers claim clinically-proven, documented results or backed by scientific research to sell their products. But you need to see the research yourself. If a manufacturer is unwilling to provide substantiation, run like the wind. #2 Not all Clinical Research is the same Look closely at the clinical studies provided by weight loss manufacturers. Was it conducted by a reputable, recognized institution, such as Georgetown University Medical Center, Harvard or other known organization? If the manufacturer provides study results that were conducted by unspecified persons, under vague conditions, question their product claims #3 What happens in the manufacturing plant This can be murky. While a manufacturer may have scientific studies, conducted at reputable institutions that substantiate their product claims, they may not be putting the right ingredient purity, quality grade or dosage to help you realize the same results achieve in clinical studies. Effective weight loss ingredients are expensive. One way a manufacturer can goose profits, is to lower the amount of active ingredients, while benefiting from legitimate result claims. To make sure youll be getting the same product as used in clinical testing, is to look for quality manufacturing verification from independent organizations, such as USP (US Pharmacopoeia), NF or Consumer Labs. Look for one or more of their symbols on weight loss packaging. If its missing, avoid buying the product. Getting beyond the hype of questionable, but often convincing celebrity endorsements requires some homework on the consumers part. But by following these three guidelines, it is possible to find a weight loss supplement that actually works. About Proven Results Health (Diab-X) (http://www.provenresultshealth.com) Diabetics can actually read 200 supporting studies on this site. Helping diabetics and pre-diabetes loose diabetic weight & gain healthy blood sugar levels is the mission of this group. Managing Your Wavy “S” Hair

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Lizz Cassidy Wavy hair falls between the category of straight hair and curly hair. An anomaly, wavy hair tends to be coarse and has a definite “S” pattern to it. A wave forms from the base and throughout the hair in the shape of the letter “S”. This “S” type hair curves while laying flat against the scalp and does not stand up away from the head in the manner that curly hair does. Actress Jennifer Aniston and supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri all are proud owners of the “S” pattern wavy hair type. Wavy and curly hair types are often confused with one another because certain individuals get to manage their curly hair to lay flat and look wavy. Do not take this out of context though. To make curly hair appear as if it was wavy takes a lot of time, money, and energy. Usually this takes at least a couple hours conversing back and forth with your hair stylist. The reason why this transformation requires a lot of work and efforts is because the distinguishing characteristic of wavy hair is that it sits close to the scalp. Even if you cut it into layers, the hair will not bounce up. Getting that “to die for” red carpet hair style is not as difficult, or as expensive, as you might think: Average TimeAbout half an hour to an hour depending on thickness and length of hair What you need: - Straightening Spray (for thick, course hair) - Volumizing spray - Ponytail Holder - Bobby pins - Hairspray - Hair dryer - 1-inch barrel curling iron - Saltwater spray - Shine serum Steps 1) Wash your hair thoroughly and then spray the roots with volumizing spray. 2) Its a good idea to spread straightening spray throughout your hair if it’s very course and curly. 3) At this point, your hair MUST be completely dry. Now blow dry your hair straight. Starting at the root of the hair will give you more volume. Also, blowing cold air into the roots adds even more volume because cold air locks in the style. 4) Separate your hair into three sections and securely fasten them with your ponytail. 5) Use the 1 inch barrel curling iron to curl your hair. Starting with one section at a time, take 1 inch portion of your hair and wrap it around the barrel of the curling iron. Remember, this IS NOT traditional curling. DO NOT clip the hair into the barrel and curl it all the way to the root. And when curling, be sure to leave the ends of your hair a bit loose. After about 5-10 seconds, remove the curl. Hold it longer if you want a tighter curl. Now you should have a corkscrew curl. 6) Roll and pin the curl to your scalp. 7) Alternate the direction of the curls as you move through the section. This means wrap hair under once, then over the next time. Following this method will present much more natural curls. 8) Once your curls, that you have pinned down, are cooled you can remove them. 9) Gently loosen waves with the blow dryer. You can also separate waves with your fingers but make sure you don’t brush them 10) Looking good!! We are almost done. You can use hair serum or saltwater to add shine to your waves. 11) Now all you have to do is spritz the waves with hairspray. But DON’T over kill it or else the waves will look hard and crunchy!! Tips It’s been recommended by most hair stylists to moisturize your hair at least once a day so you can replace all the moisture lost from within the hair strand. Best method to moisturize is to use a leave in conditioner that targets the hair strand and the root as well. Be sure to visit Curly Hair Solutions webpage to find all your salon needs. Raising Up Servants Among You

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Michael Tummillo As I troll through the Internet, doing research for an upcoming article, I became aware of the many articles written about leadership. Seems the Saints are quite concerned over WHO the leaders of this “movement” should be or, at the very least, who will lead their House Church. HOW should they be selected and WHAT it is they will actually do? Many who are attempting to “think outside the edifice” have only tasted of Institutional-style leadership and, well…we become what we surround ourselves with. When it’s all we know, it’s all we do. Reminds me of the elders of Israel in 1 Samuel Chapter 8. They had direct access to God Himself through Samuel the prophet but wanted a king like all the other nations had. God gave in but warned them of what to expect. It was a disaster. Such is the Adamic nature of man: somebody tell me what to do! I’m resisting the urge to say anything further regarding leadership a la Ephesians 4:11. That dead horse has been beaten into glue sticks by better writers and theologians than I within the House Church camps. The two extreme schools of thought range from doing what we’ve always tried to do in traditional settings to a complete absence of any leadership but the Holy Spirit. And everything in between. What’s burdening my heart as I scanned the many articles and titles I read was that the focus was so much upon the subject of leadership tainted by what we’ve known and experienced, NOT leadership as Jesus portrayed it - the One who said that He came as an example. If I asked the question, “Who is the King of this Kingdom?” the vast majority of would say, “Jesus!” Good answer. We often forget that His Kingdom is an upside down Kingdom where the last are first, the weak are strong, the rich are poor, the dead are alive, one must lose oneself to find oneself, and where godly foolishness confounds the wisest among us. We forget that, rather than functioning as some sort of political leader or gangster kingpin, Jesus washed the feet of His followers and laid His life down for them. Compare that to the leaders of an Islamic terrorist group, encouraging his followers to lay down their lives as martyrs and strapping a bomb to their chests while he builds his diabolical empire. Having counseled many a struggling married couple, far too often have I heard men declare how “unsubmissive” their wives were, while he sits in his leather reclining throne with remote control scepter in hand, barking out brief commands for all his subjects to obey: “Sit down!” “Be quiet!” “Go to sleep!” “Where’s my supper?” On the other hand, Jesus exemplified what a REAL godly leader was like. He accepted children, calling them forward and blessing them. He honored women. He forgave the seemingly unforgivable. He loved the seemingly unlovable. He accepted those who had been rejected by everyone else. He showed future leaders how to be prophets, priests and kings. A Prophet hears from God and blesses the people. A Priest offers up prayers to Heaven on their behalf. And a King - a King along the family line of Jesus - serves His people. I’ve heard the word “meekness” defined as “Power under control.” King Solomon comes to mind. Remember? The Queen of Sheba marveled at the fine robes his subjects wore, how well the king fed them, what an incredible King he was; a type of Christ, I’d say. In Acts 3:22-26 (NKJV), we read: For Moses truly said to the fathers, The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.” The phrase “my servant” and “thy servant” are used quite allot in Scripture. I couldn’t help but notice an interview yesterday with the Indianapolis Colts head coach, Tony Dungee. He is about to play in the Super Bowl against a protge of his, Coach Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears. Dungee caught my attention when he was asked why he hired Smith years ago as one of his assistants. He said something like, “I knew he was knowledgeable of the game of football…I wanted someone who could teach.” He humbly referred to Smith as ” a man with Christian values, like myself.” Incidentally, he went on to say how similar Smith’s coaching style is to his own and how, in Chicago’s camp, just as in his own team’s camp, you won’t hear coaches cussing but you will hear lots of teaching going on. I like that. After all, what is a “coach” but a vehicle for transporting important people? These young men who play football are more than mere athletes; they’re fathers, husbands, citizens. In a land that’s lacking role models, how refreshing it is to know some “servants” take their job seriously. Question: So, who are YOU coaching? As I often say, every one of us needs a Paul, a Barnabas and a Timothy in our lives: One to learn from, one to learn with and one to whom we can teach what we’ve learned. Water that’s not ebbing and flowing becomes a stagnant pool. If you are in a position of influence in the life of ANY other person - even at work or in your own home - serve them. Coach them. They may see you as their leader; so be it. We serve God by serving others…whether we’re given a title or not. Russian Gold-Diggers

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By John Kunkle If you find a beautiful Russian woman, who is thirty years younger than you, who tells you that she is desperately in love with you after you just met her for the first time last night, you should be a little suspicious. The overwhelming majority of Russian women seeking husbands abroad are honest in their intentions. They want to have a reliable partner, happy family life, and a stable future. They are not going to marry a man just to divorce him in a couple of years after they get to where they want to go. However, you must be aware that there are a few barracudas out there who are willing to take advantage of your sincerity. To avoid an unhappy experience, use your common sense. For some reason, some men who are shrewd in business, enough to amass a small fortune, seem to check their brain at the hatcheck counter when they come to Russia. Men are always shocked when a gold-digger takes advantage of them. A close examination of their behavior frequently yields the following observations: They often act like big shots, throwing money around, dating women thirty years younger, bragging about their accomplishments to impress the women they meet. They are like peacocks that try to display their plumage in order to attract a mate. When they meet a gold-digger, they are surprised, even though money is exactly what they were advertising. Then they act victimized by the innocent looking girl who took advantage of their offer. All men are guilty of this at times. Let me make some recommendations: Dont brag or exaggerate about your personal circumstances. She will find out the truth as soon as she gets to your home. If You Lead With Your Chin, It Makes It Easy For Someone To Take A Punch At You. I sometimes think that when a man says that he has been taken advantage of by a gold-digger, that this kind of circumstance did not happen by mistake. As the old saying goes, hockey players and chess players dont hang out together. There are all kinds of people that are out there in the dating world. There are women that are jerks and there are men that are jerks. I have heard stories of men who are addicted to the tours because of the gigantic ego stroke it gives them. They take advantage of the ten to one ratio of single women to single men at the social to bolster their self-image. They like to feel superior to the local population of Russians because of their relative economic superiority. They brag about themselves and throw money around to impress others because of their low self-esteem. They toy with womens hopes and aspirations to get married without being really serious about commitment. They pick the most gorgeous runway model they can find to parade as a trophy wife, or arm candy, in front of their friends. A guy like that probably deserves a gold digger a woman who is his moral or spiritual counterpart. Elena Petrova tell this story: A professor from an American university told me that he met a couple of men on board a plane to Russia who flew there for a “marriage tour”. He characterized them as “bad”. He said they were arrogant, obviously had problems with health, and were drinking too much. One of them complained that he was previously married to a Russian woman but she left him a year after the marriage. The professor said he felt sorry - for the woman — because she had stayed with this man for the whole year. He said that he would have run away from him in a couple of days if he was her. And this guy was intending to find another lady for marriage in Russia - again, twenty to thirty years younger. The other male specimen who gets taken advantage of by gold-diggers is the ones that literally are mentally or socially challenged. They either dont have a brain, or dont use it, or they are three nuts short of a candy bar. John has been married to a Russian woman for over five years. He has travelled the path from finding her, to traveling to Russia, to bring his wife to America, and adjusting to married life. He will show you step by step how to do this yourself.http://www.russian-luv.com/golddiggers.html Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Kunkle http://EzineArticles.com/?Russian-Gold-Diggers&id=332360 ambien order gifts ambien viagra sanofisynthelabo zolpidem free trial idenification of lorazepam

Get a Cheap Credit Card By Understanding The Fees

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder Credit card companies charge fees of some sort or another. The key is to find a card with the lowest fees for the services you use. For instance, if you use cash advances, then investigate those fees with credit card companies before you sign up with them. Upfront Fees Not every credit card program has upfront fees, so it pays to shop around for the right card. For instance, annual fees are common on cards with fixed or low rates. In the right circumstance, this fee with the right rate can save you money. You will also find cash advance fees, either a flat rate or percentage. Not all cards charge this, but usually they have higher APRs. It is important to read the terms if you plan on using this feature. Balance-transfer fees also can be charged, usually when you use a check sent by the credit card company. Some programs offer no fees or low rates for transfers, especially with an introductory offer. Extra Fees Extra fees can often be avoid but should still be researched. Late payment, over-the-credit-limit, or credit increase can all result in extra dollars. Less common are set-up, return item, or telephone ordering fees. Unless a card is offering an exceptional rate, these types of programs should be avoided. Low Fees Equal High Rates - Sometimes While no one wants to pay fees, sometimes they can save you money. With large balances or balance transfers, you can often find lower rates by paying a small fee. You may also find that with incentive programs, a monthly fee will still allow you to come out ahead. However, for those that pay off their balances every month, choose a card with no or low fees. You can also choose to have a couple of different types of credit card programs to meet your different financing needs. Research Fees Under federal law, credit card companies are required to list fees and APRs before you apply. Often the information will be present in a table. It will include annual, minimum finance, cash advance transaction, transfer, late payment, and over-the-credit-limit fees. With this information, you can decide what card is best for you. Use NLP Based Language to Seduce

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Vittorio Norman The truth is, a lot of the language successful guys use on women, to seduce them, is actually a “higher” level of speaking which communicates on two channels: the obvious verbal context, and the suggestive level, where sub-communication takes place. It’s a way of “reaching” someone’s fantasies and desires, and helping to bring them out. The modes at work are often largely based on the concept of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming). It is the nature and type of this particular communication, which can be used to help draw out someone’s innermost desires, and enrich the choices in front of them, to help them make a better more fulfilling decision. For example, “Feel good about what can make you feel good in return”, has positive implications on someone’s view of the world. Richard Bandler, one of the original founders of the NLP methodology, has this to say about NLP: “NLP is an attitude characterised by the sense of curiosity and adventure and a desire to learn the skills to be able to find out what kinds of communication influences a person channels from within. To look at life as a rare and unprecedented opportunity to learn and grow.” NLP based language can be an elegant art form which can help refine not only your own thinking, but someone else’s, for the better. It can help resolve internal conflict and bring down the “walls” which people have had imposed on them by many years of negative social conditioning. NLP can be a very practical mode of communication and becomes especially useful when incorporated into the normal everyday use of language. You can combine NLP with modern elements such as cocky & funny, very effectively. By realizing that NLP can be combined with other more mainstream language, many linguistic possibilities are opened which will allow its use during normal everyday conversation. This allows NLP to be used without ever sounding “cheesy” or “lame”. Copyright 2005 Vittorio Norman Vittorio Norman provides a step-by-step guide for meeting women online, in his latest ebook. Personalise Your Wedding

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

By Janine Robertson The first hint of the style of your wedding that your guests will receive is your invitation. It is important to consider how this can impact the rest of your event decor and to ensure there is some commonality between invitation and reception. These tips will help achieve an impact with your guests and create a unique wedding. Your colour scheme Keeping a theme from invitations right through to your table design is important with all events. What flowers are in your bouquet? What colours will you and your bridal party be wearing? * Consider using a textured paper to form the background of your wedding invitation and continue the use of this paper in your table design as a base to your centrepiece, a table runner or wrapped around candles. It can also carry through to your order of service, place cards and menus. * Take a photo of your chosen flower (or purchase one online) and use this image from your initial invitation right through to your table design. A photo can have a greater impact than a printed design. The link between the image and the use of real flowers at your event will be simple and elegant. Ensure a colour is used to “lift” the image from the paper. Your dinner tables Your table settings can create atmosphere and be the most impactful part of your wedding reception!Remember, your guests will be seated at your tables longer than anywhere else. They will have time to notice the details. This is also the best way to add colour to your venue and personalise the look and feel of the room. You want guests to feel welcome when they walk in! While flowers are beautiful, they are the most commonly used centrepiece and are expensive (often starting at $50 per table for a centrepiece). Have you considered alternatives such as ribbon table runners, paper table runners, paper centrepiece bases, paper and wax lanterns, chocolates and lollies? Photos? Place mats? Mirrors? These choices will certainly bring the cost of your tables down, and you may even be able to keep certain elements! How can you incorporate your bombonniere into your table decorations to save money? Can your centrepiece include a set number of items that your guests can take home - such as having 10 candles per table or using bud vases? Instead of floral arrangements, consider using bowls and single flowers - a large flower such as a lilly can have great impact on its own in the right bowl! A final tip….. Don’t forget the white umbrellas - just in case! Design your own or use a professionally designed table decor package. A variety of event accessories are available starting as low as $1.15! http://www.topandtable.com.au helps you personalise your wedding to create an impact and save you money!
